Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

Being healthy isn't just about diet and exercise. Here are a few more ways you can support your body.

Detox Bath: To rid your body of radiation gained from flying, soak in a hot bath with 2 cups Epsom salts + 2 cups baking soda for a minimum of 20 minutes after each trip. Mixing in any combination of lemongrass, tee tree or orange essential oils for a total of 10-15 drops to the epsom salts before placing them in the bath will enhance the effect.

Sinus Care: To keep your sinuses clear and clean while flying, try Xlear nose spray. Made with Xylitol and saline, this all-natural spray is safe and effective. Use whenever your sinuses feel dry and/or clogged. To help your ears clear, tilt you head slightly to the same side as the nostril you are spraying in and make little sniffs while plugging the opposite nostril. Xlear can be used by children and adults.

Using a natural vapor rub, such as doTERRA Breathe Vapor Rub on your chest before and during flight helps keep sinuses clear as well. Applying diluted peppermint oil to your chest or simply smelling it straight from the bottle also helps open up the airways.

Natural Body Care Products: Olive oil and coconut oil can be used as natural make-up removers. Keep a small travel size container with a twist top lid in your crew cooler for cooking on your electric travel skillet and removing your make-up at the end of the day.

Stain Remover: Spill on your crisp clean shirt and it's only day 1 of your trip? You don't need toxic cleaners like stain-removing pens to get it out. Instead, take a piece of lemon and a salt packet from the plane. Rub the stain with the lemon, sprinkle with salt, massage salt into the stain and let sit. Run the stained part of your shirt under water and watch the stain disappear. You can substitute 1 drop lemon essential oil for the lemon wedge if necessary.

Meditate: prior to starting your day, take a moment to sit quietly and focus on your breathing, bringing to mind all the things you are grateful for and setting your intention for the day. Having a positive outlook before walking out the door instills uplifting energy. At the end of each day, do the same. Take time to reflect on all the good you encountered that day, forgive yourself and those around you for any shortcomings and release any negativity, preparing your mind and body for a restful night of sleep. Stress is a primary culprit for illness, disease and all around poor health. Therefore, maintaining a healthy state of mind is just as important as eating right and exercising.
