Lemon

Lemon essential oil is known for it's cleansing properties. Here are several ways to use lemon throughout your trip:

  • Oil- Add 1-2 drop to a cup of water or tea for it's cleansing properties or to help sooth a sore throat. When traveling outside of the US, this oil comes in especially handy for cleansing unfamiliar water. Be sure to only use lemon oil in non-plastic cups and containers as it draws the toxins out of plastic, causing you to consume them and break the plastic down.
    In a small glass spray bottle, mix 5-10 drops of lemon oil with water and use as an air freshener in the lav or anywhere else to cleans and freshen the air. Be sure to shake the bottle before each use. You can find small glass spray bottles conveniently on amazon.com or aromatools.com.

    In your hotel room, fill the sink with warm water and add 4-5 drops lemon oil. Soak a wash cloth in the water and use it to clean the surfaces of the hotel room and bathroom to kill germs. You can do the same with On Guard oil blend.

    For uniform stains, rub 1 drop of lemon oil in to the stain, use a wet washcloth and gently dab the stain. If you have salt, sprinkle the salt on top of the lemon and rub it into the stain. Let sit for 10-20 minutes and rinse with warm water. This works best on white clothing as it can extract dye from the fabric.

    Combine 5 drops lemon with 5 drops tee tree oil and/or 5 drops lemongrass in Epsom salts for a detox bath.
